It was pretty incredible to walk up to Dena Miller’s home and realize her “backyard” was an entire polo field. Sitting with her, you could see the joy spark in her eyes as she shared story after story of the people polo has brought into her life. For hours, she spoke about university polo students who come to practice, many of whom have become like family. She even smiled recalling how her husband once played alongside the man who is now King Charles III - a reminder of polo’s rich history and global reach.
But the heart of her message was simple and welcoming: polo is for everyone. Young or old, families, couples, or solo adventurers…all are welcome. Bring a blanket or a chair. Sit in the Texas sunshine. Watch the horses thunder across the field and feel the rhythm of a sport that quickly becomes a passion.
Here’s the invitation: don’t just read about polo - come experience it. This spring, Prestonwood Polo & Country Club will host the USPA D1 National Intercollegiate Championship, a rare honor and the perfect moment to step into something unforgettable. Mark your calendar, gather your people, and show up. You don’t need experience, just curiosity. Once you come, you’ll understand why so many never leave.
