There’s something deeply grounding about riding along the shores of Lake Ray Roberts—the rhythm of hooves, the quiet strength of the land, and the sense that you are part of something bigger. The Lake Ray Roberts Equestrian Trails Association exists to protect and preserve that very experience for generations to come.
LRRETA is more than a trail association—it is a steward of North Texas horse country. Through tireless volunteer efforts, they maintain and advocate for the equestrian trails that wind through Lake Ray Roberts, ensuring they remain safe, accessible, and beautiful. Their work directly supports not only riders, but also the broader ecosystem of our lake and surrounding land.

Their events reflect the heart of their mission. The Veterans Ride on November 9, 2025, was a powerful reminder of the healing connection between horses, land, and those who have served our country. It was a day marked by gratitude, honor, and community—values that define LRRETA.
Equally inspiring is seeing LRRETA volunteers in action repairing and improving our trails. The high winds and floods from Texas storms keep them busy with chainsaw work on fallen trees and raising funds to construct elevated walkways over eroded gullies. To date, LRRETA has raised over $600,000 via grants and donations to keep the trails available for the community.

What makes LRRETA truly special is its people. Volunteers, riders, and supporters all play a role in preserving a way of life that is uniquely North Texas. In a time of rapid growth, their work ensures that the trails—and the traditions tied to them—remain.
Because when we protect the trails, we protect the soul of horse country.
