You Are Beautiful Fashion Show and Luncheon

Karla K. Morton, Texas State Poet Laureate speaks to a captivated crowd at the 5th Annual You’re Beautiful Style Show and Luncheon. The Luncheon features cancer survivors from the Denton area as models for the latest fashions in this inspirational show. To date, the fashion show has raised in excess of $200,000 for the American Cancer Society.

Sheriff’s Office Reach Agreement for Extra Patrols in Providence

The Denton County Sheriff’s Office has reached a new agreement to furnish additional patrol services to the Providence Fresh Water Supply District community on East U.S. Highway 380.
Last week the Denton County Commissioners Court gave 30 days notice that it would cancel the existing contract to provide extra patrols to the water districts, including Providence and Savannah, because contract negotiations had been stalled since November, after Savannah’s board of directors began seeking alternatives to the agreement with the Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office had continued to furnish two deputies on a month-to-month basis in the expectation that the contract would be renewed. However, the Sheriff’s Office had not filled two open patrol deputy positions in case the contract wasn’t renewed, and last week it asked the commissioners to terminate the contract so the open positions could be filled with the two contract deputies....
